Dylan Bice
ARTIST – MAKER – HUMAN
I make things when I don’t know what else to do with what I’m feeling. That’s not a disclaimer… it’s the whole method.
My work lives in the in-between spaces. Intimacy that doesn’t quite land. Identity that shifts depending on who’s looking. The quiet moments that feel heavier than they should. I’m drawn to vulnerability not as a theme to explore but as a way of working: getting close enough to something that it stops being abstract and starts being real.
I’ve shown work in gallery spaces and built collections around anonymity, desire, and mental health. I’ve made pieces that lived in institutions and pieces that only ever lived on my own wall. Whatever form the work takes, the question underneath it is the same: what does it feel like to be a person, right now, in this body, carrying this particular weight?
I also write. Essays, poems, things that don’t have a name yet. It’s where I go when I can’t paint something, or when I’m not ready to. The writing and the art feed each other in ways I’m still mapping.
Professionally, I come from years of client-facing work, which taught me something the studio confirmed: what matters isn’t just what people see, but how it lands. I want the work to feel like something, even when you can’t explain what that something is.
I’m 30. I’m still figuring things out. Most days, that’s the point.
This is where I keep track of it all. The work, the progress, the setbacks, the parts that are growing and the parts that aren’t ready yet.
If something here resonates with you, that’s enough.
